There are cheaper options on Amazon - what does that mean?Updated 6 months ago
Over the last few months, we've noticed a few competitors popping up on Amazon. This is a good thing as it indicates there is a clear market need and also promotes healthy competition so we all have an incentive to craft a better product and experience.
So, we're here to talk about the elephant in the room.
This is a free market. You can shop where it suits your budget and risk appetite. But, let's also be good product developers, business people, and consumers (because we use smart rings too) and review the options.
We've taken great lengths to purchase these competitor products so we can give them a good test drive and we've also had feedback from people in our community who have trialled these options in addition to ours.
Here is one comment we received from a long-term customer:
I have only used the competitor for about seven days I think. But it works as it should. It doesn’t have the premium look as OSleeve but it still functions. However, I would definitely recommend yours over the competition.
Thanks, J.M...we appreciate you and all the other customers who have given their feedback.
We also wanted to share a few red flags with these alternative options.
- Some of the brands are claiming to have a patent-pending on their product, just like our product. However, upon a patent search via our IP Attorney, we can find no applications that corroborate those claims which leads us to believe they are false. When we buy from these companies, what type of ethics are we promoting in this world?
- Some are even using our own language pulled from our website in their product descriptions or direct variants thereof. Hm...do they actually wear the product and have their own opinion here?
- Upon reviewing how they've made their product, they've blatantly copied a few manufacturing features. We know that "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery', but what does it tell you about a company that just regurgitates another person or company's ideas or copyright? Are they creating a better product or just capitalizing on another company's investment and efforts?
- They all seem to be made using much cheaper silicone which will impact durability and longevity. No doubt about it. It's cheap material with no real thought into how it will be used.
What we can do is find comfort in the fact that none of them have the last 4 years of market insight and feedback, which has driven our unique tooling methodology and LSR material combinations to deliver a solid product, that innovates regularly.
None that we can find have their own websites or helpful customer service like we do, nor the passion to delight.
If they're of the mindset to just 'copy' then I can tell you right now that none of them have the roadmap we have to continue developing new and novel ways to protect your smart ring.
We've never, ever hidden behind our journey or product. We strive to provide the best pre-purchase information so our customers can make empowered decisions. We also strive to deliver best-in-class customer service.
So, when you buy from us...you know what you're getting.
